KTS offers two different solutions to detect the shots:
  • Four sensors, one in each corner. It is our standard up to 50m. We also have this solution for bigger outdoor targets. We call it the H-type.
  • Three sensors at the bottom of the target, under the impact zone and usually with an effective protection of the sensors. We call it the U-type (Under).

We sell each of the solutions, because each has its advantages and are complementary ones. It all depends on the shooters` needs and skills.

The military snipers or advanced sports shooters usually prefer the H-type. Their precision and stability are the best available, with low maintenance. Depending on the targets and the calibers, the system can typically register from 300 to 1500 shots without any maintenance of the target at all. The drawback is that a bad shot can occasionally destroy one sensor. We designed it easy to repair, of course.

The advantage of the U-type (sensors at the bottom) is that the sensors can be easily protected. Conventional soldiers or shooters with average shooting skills typically prefer this solution. We boast ranges with over 150 targets on the same range. To ensure steady precision, these targets require a rotation of the rubber band roughly twice as often than the H-type, but you can still typically shoot 800 rounds on the same target for a 200 yards lane.

SPEED OF THE BULLET
Another parameter to consider is the speed of the bullet. We consider 3 categories:
  • Supersonic bullets at the target (above 330meter/s)
  • Subsonic bullets at the target (below 330meter/s)
  • Bullets which are both super- and subsonic.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR TARGET
We recommend to consider these questions while chosing your target:
  • How big should the detection area be? Distance and shootings skills are the main drivers.
  • Ammunition versus distance: will the bullet still be supersonic at the target?
  • How likely is it that a shot misses the target?

This will strongly influence your choice between bottom sensors (U-type) and corner sensors (H-type).
GUIDELINES
We generally recommend sensors in the corners for sport-shooting and qualified forces with sniper capability.
